An Effect Of Group Art Therapy with Emotional Recognition Program on Children¡¯s Emotional Intelligence and Adaptation to Daycare Center

Abstract
In this study, we wanted to find out whether group art therapy applied with emotional recognition programs is effective for emotional intelligence of infants and adaptation to daycare centers. The study targets 12 children aged 5 years old who attended a B children's home in B, Gyeong-gi province, and each of them was assigned randomly to a experimental group and a control group. The research period is from March to June 2018, and a total of 16 programs excluding pre and post- tests were conducted twice a week by the experimental group for 60 minutes. As research tools, emotional intelligence measures, adaptability scales at daycare centers, and Kinetic School Drawing (KSD) were used. Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test as a Statistical analysis used in SPSS 24.0 and pre- and post- Kinetic School Drawing (KSD) was performed and analyzed as qualitative analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, group art therapy, which applied emotional recognition program, was effective in emotional intelligence of children. Second, group art therapy, which applied emotional recognition program, was effective in adapting children to daycare centers. This study confirmed that collective art therapy applied with emotional recognition programs is effective for emotional intelligence of children and adaptation of daycare centers.
